Fans Call for Detainment of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the actress are urging that a individual who breached a barricade and seized the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or removed from Singapore.
A viral video shows the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a promenade accompanied by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "released after being detained", though legal records showed that he was due to attend court on the following morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account features clips of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the city last December.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user questioned.
Followers Express Concern Over Ariana's Well-being
Several followers accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more message on Instagram.
Several attendees also questioned event staff at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while others called for digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In footage shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
